VACANCY:
COMMUNITY SPORTS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Featherstone Rovers Foundation is the charitable arm of Featherstone Rovers RLFC. Working across Featherstone and the wider Wakefield District in West Yorkshire, our vision is to inspire our community through the values of sport, physical activity, and social opportunities as a catalyst for positive change, enabling the fulfilment of potential.
 

The Featherstone Rovers Foundation is looking to appoint a full time community sports development officer to foster and support the growth of sport & active lifestyles within the Wakefield District, offering their expertise and enthusiasm while delivering physical activity and Sport sessions across the region.

 

The role requires:

​

  • A highly organised individual who is self-motivated, able to work under pressure and without supervision.

​

  • A team player who will endeavour to work closely with the current team of staff supporting as necessary to achieve both individual and team goals.

​

  • A sound knowledge and experience of delivering a variety of physical education activities in Primary Schools.

 

  • Good understanding of community sport in particular community Rugby League clubs.

 

The ideal candidate will be flexible as hours of work will include evenings and weekends.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

​

The roles and responsibilities to include but not limited:

​

  • Plan, lead and deliver a range of different physical education sessions in primary and secondary schools.

  • Organisation and delivery of school sport competitions and festivals.

  • Maintain strong relationships with all our school sport partners.

  • Plan, lead and deliver on all school holiday sport camps.

  • Co-ordination of all Featherstone Rovers Foundation matchday activities

  • Club development support for all our community RL ambassador clubs

  • Assist with the delivery of our Rugby League Development programmes.

  • Any additional work as requested by line manager.

Person Specification

Essentials

 

  • Level 2 Rugby League qualification

  • Have a Valid Driving Licence, use of a car is essential.

  • Be able to work as part of the team or individually and be physically active.

  • Must be reliable with excellent time management.

  • Ability to manage own workload.

  • Experience of coaching at Primary & Secondary school level

  • Valid enhanced DBS

​

Desirable

 

  • Safeguarding and Paediatric First Aid Certificates

  • UKCC level 2 sports qualification

  • Experience of organising events such as sports festivals, school sports days and fundraising activities

  • Sound IT Skills

​

 

This is a fulltime position, to be based at the Millennium Stadium.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to become part of a thriving team, working in a unique professional Rugby League environment.

 

Salary 20-22k per annum dependent on skills and experience
