The Opportunity
This is a rare and exciting leadership opportunity to shape the future of a growing community charity closely aligned with a professional sports club. As Head of Foundation, you will provide strategic leadership, operational direction, and inspirational management to ensure the Foundation delivers meaningful and lasting impact for the communities it serves.

Working closely with the Board of Trustees, staff, volunteers, and partners, you will lead the Foundation’s strategic vision, grow its reach and sustainability, and strengthen its reputation as a trusted and impactful community organisation.

Main Purpose of the Role
The Head of Foundation will be responsible for leading the growth and development of the Foundation, ensuring it delivers against its strategic objectives while remaining true to its values and community focus.
​
Key responsibilities include:
· Leading and delivering the Foundation’s strategic plan in line with the vision set by the Board of Trustees.
· Driving sustainable growth by securing funding, developing partnerships, and ensuring strong financial management.
· Aligning the Foundation’s work with the community ambitions and needs of Featherstone and the wider Wakefield district
· Providing visible, inspirational leadership to staff and volunteers, creating a culture of collaboration, ambition, and accountability.
· Acting as a key ambassador for the Foundation, strengthening its profile locally, regionally, and nationally.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Head of Foundation will lead and manage the charity on a day-to-day basis, including:
· Working in partnership with Trustees, and key stakeholders to identify, design, and deliver impactful programmes aligned to strategic priorities.
· Developing and maintaining a strong pipeline of funding, including grants, commercial partnerships, sponsorships, and donations.
· Preparing and submitting high-quality funding applications and ensuring timely and accurate reporting to funders.
· Working closely with the Treasurer to ensure effective financial systems, budget management, and income monitoring are in place.
· Overseeing the delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of all programmes, projects, and initiatives to demonstrate impact and value.
· Ensuring the Foundation operates in line with Charity Commission requirements, good governance practice, and relevant employment law.
· Maintaining and developing organisational policies, procedures, and systems to support growth and compliance.
· Providing clear, regular, and insightful reports to the Board of Trustees and key partners.
· Raising the profile of the Foundation through digital platforms, media engagement, events, and strategic networking.

Experience, Qualifications and Training
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
· A high standard of education; educated to degree level is desirable.
· Demonstrated experience working in an equivalent professional leadership position.
· A recognised Leadership or Management qualification.
· Experience of developing and delivering strategic plans within a charity, community, or sports development setting.
· Proven experience in the delivery of community-based programmes that drive positive social impact.
· A track record of leading and managing staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality outcomes.
· Experience of securing, managing, and reporting on third-sector funding.
· Experience of managing budgets and financial processes.
· A strong understanding of Charity Commission regulations, governance, and compliance.
· A working knowledge of employment law within a charitable or third-sector environment.
· Experience developing partnerships, sponsorships, and commercial relationships.
· Experience of marketing, communications, and brand-led community engagement.
