OUR YEAR WAKEFIELD DISTRICT 2024
Featherstone Rovers Foundation are proud to have been a participant in the 'Our Year - Wakefield District 2024' project. The year-long initiative, organized by Experience Wakefield through Wakefield Council, has provided an exceptional platform for us to engage with the community and celebrate the rich heritage of Featherstone.
​​Throughout 2024, Featherstone Rovers Foundation were involved in a variety of events, exhibits and workshops designed to educate and inspire the community about Featherstone's storied past as a mining town. These events, mainly held at the Millennium Stadium, home of Featherstone Rovers RLFC, have allowed us to share the history that continues to shape our town and our club with the community.

One of the highlights of our participation has been the commissioning of a stunning mural by local artist Phillip Hollinsworth, which now proudly stands in our stadium’s community room, the Foundry, as well as a large printing which hangs outside the Rovers Superstore and Clubhouse. The mural not only celebrates Featherstone's mining heritage but also serves as a lasting tribute to the resilience and spirit of our community.

The 'Our Year - Wakefield District 2024' project has been a remarkable journey for the Featherstone Rovers Foundation. It has provided us with the opportunity to connect with residents, share our history, and highlight the ongoing relationship between Featherstone's past and its present. As a Rugby League club, Featherstone Rovers are deeply rooted in the community of our town, and this project has reinforced the strong bond between Featherstone Rovers and the people we proudly represent.
Our involvement in 'Our Year - Wakefield District 2024' has been a testament to the power of community and the importance of preserving our heritage. We are committed to continuing our efforts to celebrate Featherstone's rich history and to strengthen the ties that bind us as a community.

We also express our gratitude to everyone who has participated in and supported our events throughout the year. Together, we are celebrating our heritage and building a brighter future for Featherstone and Wakefield District as a whole.
