FEATHERSTONE ROVERS PRESENT 24 in 24

Featherstone Rovers Foundation host a 24 in 24 Learning Disability Event  

 

To mark the launch of Our Year – Wakefield District 2024, Wakefield Council facilitated 24 in 24, a celebration which saw 24 events take place on one jampacked day and bringing communities together.  

They took place across each ward of the Wakefield district last Saturday 13th January 2024, 24 in 24 was a taste of what’s to come throughout Our Year’s 366-day programme of activity.  

Featherstone Rovers Foundation, the charitable arm of professional club Featherstone Rovers RLFC were delighted to be approached to host an introductory session of Learning Disability Rugby League. The session took place at the Millennium Support Stadium in Featherstone with 12 participants and players from the Featherstone Rovers Learning Disability Team. 

The taster which was lead by FRF coaching staff, involved fun games and drills to support development of different aspects of the game including ball grip, carry, passing and also getting used to wearing tag belts. After the session the participants were joined by Featherstone Rovers First Team stars Connor Jones, Tomas Lacans and Ladies players for a short question and answer session in the club house looking over the pitch with refreshments. 

Sports development officer William Dobson said ‘Its really good to see so many young particpants with learning difficulties come out to this event to show me and the foundation that LDRL is still able to thrive in the Featherstone area. It is also really nice to be chosen the host this event by Our Year 2024 committee to host the Featherstone ward event of the 24 in 24.”
