Rovers Foundation to host ‘Ref’ a play about the first female to referee male Rugby League matches

Featherstone Rovers Foundation will be hosting the play ‘Ref’ at the LD Nutrition Stadium on Thursday 7th Feb at 7pm. ‘Ref’ is based on a true story about the life of Julia Lee, who against all odds became the first female in Rugby League to referee male games. Tickets are on sale at £5 with 20% of all ticket sales going to support the registered charity 1118452 Featherstone Rovers Foundation.

Head of Community Development, Amy Hardman, is really excited to be hosting the event.

‘We are delighted to be working with Julia on this project, hosting a range of activities to celebrate women and girls involvement in the sport of Rugby League. With the recent boom around female sport and Featherstone Rovers Women’s team being invited to join the first ever Women’s Super League we are relishing being in the spotlight. We would like to see as many people, as possible, come to see this exciting play that offers an insight into the highs and lows of being a female referee in men’s rugby league’.
