FOUNDATION CHOSEN AS CO-OP LOCAL CAUSE

Rovers Foundation Nominated for a Local Cause at Co-op Ackworth and Co-op Funeral Care Pontefract

Featherstone Rovers Foundation have been successful in becoming one of the chosen local causes at the Co-op store in Ackworth and Co-op Funeral Care in Pontefract. The Rovers Foundation is the charitable arm of the professional Rugby League club Featherstone Rovers RLFC and are fundraising in order to run a Men’s Mental Health project to tackle various issues that have been heightened  by the Covid 19 Pandemic.

The project will run from the Stadium, lead by current and ex Rugby League professionals to support local men with their mental fitness. During the 10 week blocks of sessions the participants will focus on topics including coping with stress and managing emotions.

The local cause fund is supported by the Co-op membership scheme, when members sign up to the scheme which initially costs just £1, members will receive 2p of every £1 they spend in store back to their membership account to spend as they wish. 2% of what they spend then goes to the chosen local cause. In order to raise the most funds for the project, the Foundation are asking for Ackworth Co-op members and anyone accessing Co-op Funeralcare Pontefract to check their emails and make sure they have selected ‘Featherstone Rovers Foundation, Men’s Health Project’ as their local cause.

Amy Hardman, Head of Community Development said ‘We are delighted to be chosen as one of the local causes by Co-op Ackworth and Funeralcare Pontefract. Our communities have really been pushed to the limits during the Coronavirus Pandemic so we are looking to be able to support the mental health of Men in the local area through the sport of Rugby League.’
